Finance Director

Job description

A fantastic opportunity has arisen for a Finance Director with a gambling prevention charity, on a full-time, FTC (until March 2026) basis. As Finance Director you will oversee the strategic, business and financial management of the charity during a period of significant change. You will work in a complex organisation at a key time, and will have accountability for finance, funding and office management.  It is an autonomous and hands-on role which requires self-reliance, good communication and diligence.

 

Please note, there is hybrid working in place with this organisation and you would be required to go into the office 2 days per week.

 

Additionally, please note, candidates looking for 4 days per week may be considered.

 

As Finance Director, you will:

- Oversee, monitor and evaluate all areas of finance in line with charity SORP and Charity Commission requirements

- Work with the Head of Finance to deliver robust, accurate and timely monthly, quarterly and annual accounts and ad hoc reports as required by the CEO, the Board and its sub-committees, the Audit & Risk Committee and the Resources Committee

- Work with the Director of Strategy, the Director of Programmes and Project Management and the Head of Finance to ensure regularly and timely reforecasting reports are prepared and delivered to the necessary committees and meetings

- Work with the Head of Governance to lead and support risk management

- Help to set-up, attend and report to weekly transition meetings between teams as necessary (e.g. Finance/Governance & People/Procurement and Programme Management)

 

The successful applicant will:

- Have Significant demonstrable experience in finance within the charity sector, in a similar role

- Be fully qualified (hold a Professional Chartered Accountancy Qualification)

- Have experience and understanding of strategic risk management

- Have experience with managing large scale organisational change

- Have excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
