Team Assistant and PA
Job description
Already working in a PA and/or admin role and looking for a new challenge, a place you’ll be valued, a change of industry or somewhere you can develop your skills? If you share our values, have excellent attention to detail, a strong sense of initiative and an approachable manner, we would love to hear from you.
We are a grant-making charity rooted in south London. Our vision is a world where everyone who experiences mental illness, without exception, has access to the right care and support for them.
We fund work led by South London and Maudsley NHS Foundation Trust, research teams at King’s College London, and the voluntary and community sector to build a more equitable and effective mental health care system in south London. We share what we learn to promote change in other parts of the UK.
Maudsley Charity – Team Assistant and PA
Location: Split 50% Denmark Hill, London, 50% homeworking
Salary: £33,000 pa, plus excellent benefits
Contract: 9 months
Are you looking to work with a team you can make an impact on to achieve common goals? Can you communicate effectively and work with a range of people internally and with external stakeholders?
We’re looking for a Team Assistant and PA to provide PA support to our Director of Fundraising and Comms and to provide admin support to the Fundraising and Comms teams. The ideal candidate will share our values, have excellent attention to detail, a strong sense of initiative and an approachable manner.
This is a crucial role for us and a big focus is prioritisation and planning, so you’ll support the Director of Fundraising & Communications, and the wider team to prioritise, forward plan, manage diaries, prepare for meetings, and support on specific or team-wide projects.
You’ll get exposure to the strategic overview of the charity and insight into managing teams, grant-making, fundraising and communications. This is a great role for someone wanting to develop their administrative experience, executive level working, and/or who may want to move into a fundraising and/or communications role in the future.
You’ll quickly see the impact you can make within the team to improve our effectiveness and ways of working, and what we’re achieving as a charity.
You’ll enable a smooth transition at the start and end of your contract, but still have the opportunity to make your mark and absolutely feel part of our engaged and diverse team.
We are based in our vibrant offices in ORTUS, Denmark Hill, a great place to work and hold events.
We offer an inclusive working culture, with the following benefits for our staff (to name a few):
• Hybrid working, 2-3 days spent with the team at ORTUS/onsite each week and 2-3 days at home/offsite.
• 25 days annual leave, with a further one day after 3 years’ service and a further one day after 5 years’ service. Plus, additional non-working office closure days over the Christmas period.
• Pension scheme with up to 6% employer contribution, subject to a minimum 3% employee contribution.
• A demonstrable commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion, which is embedded in all we do.
We actively welcome and value diverse experiences, voices and perspectives, particularly those who come from minoritised communities and/or have direct experience of living with mental illness or a carer for someone living with mental illness.
How to apply
Maudsley Charity is active in ensuring our recruitment process is accessible and without bias. We are committed to blind shortlisting and will ask competency- and values-based questions in our process. Progression through our process is based on scoring rather than subjective opinion. Our panel scores candidates on their own to remove influence. You’ll still need a CV to have productive conversations with Harris Hill, but CVs will only be seen by Maudsley Charity once you are invited to interview.
Closing date for applications: Wednesday, 12 March 2025
Interview date: Tuesday, 18 March 2025 (face to face)
If you would like to receive further information and discuss this role, please email Sekai Lindsay at Harris Hill.
