I am delighted to be supporting a dynamic and passionate organisation based in North London, in their search for dedicated Young Women’s IDVA. These roles offer an opportunity to make a significant impact on the lives of young survivors of domestic violence.

Candidates do not need to be IDVA-trained prior to joining but must have experience in charities, working with young people, and/or domestic violence services.

Young Women’s IDVA (Independent Domestic Violence Advocate)
Location: North London
Salary: £27,000 - £28,840 per annum (depending on experience)
Contract Type: Fixed-term until 31st March 2025
Hours: Various roles available:

• Full-time (35 hours per week) Hybrid 

• Part-time (0.4 FTE) Onsite

Essential requirements

• Experience: At least one year in a relevant role within the charity sector, supporting young people and/or survivors of domestic abuse.

• Knowledge: In-depth understanding of violence against women and girls, particularly relationship abuse and exploitation.

• Interpersonal Skills: Ability to build safe and trusted relationships, centering the needs of young women.

• Equity & Inclusion: Understanding of how intersecting identities impact experiences of violence and access to support.

• Advocacy & Leadership: Ability to advocate for young women, ensuring their safety, wellbeing, and betterment.

• Safeguarding: Strong knowledge of child protection and safeguarding protocols.

• Communication & Teamwork: Excellent teamwork skills and ability to liaise effectively with management and external partners.

• Compliance: Willingness to undergo an enhanced DBS check and provide proof of the right to work in the UK.

Desirable

• Qualifications such as IDVA, ISVA, YPVA, or similar.

• Training or experience in youth work or violence against women and girls sector.

• Experience in delivering creative, inclusive engagement activities.

• Awareness of local community needs in Barnet and surrounding boroughs.

Key responsibilities

• Managing a caseload of up to 10 young survivors of abuse, maintaining regular engagement and structured support sessions.

• Maintaining accurate records and reports in compliance with safeguarding policies.

• Conducting weekly case reviews with the Safeguard Lead and reporting any risk or safety concerns.

• Acting as an advocate for young women, ensuring their safety and access to necessary support.

• Developing innovative opportunities for young people’s personal growth and wellbeing.

• Collaborating with the wider team to ensure high-quality service delivery, including participation in group activities and workshops.

• Engaging in ongoing training and professional development.

• Performing additional relevant tasks as required, with honesty and integrity.
