Job description
Chair & Trustees – The Donkey Sanctuary
Sidmouth, Devon
Since its foundation almost 50 years ago, The Donkey Sanctuary has grown from a Devon-based charity rescuing UK donkeys from neglect and abuse to an international animal welfare organisation transforming the lives of millions of donkeys and mules, and the people who depend on them for their livelihood.
We are now one of the world’s largest equine welfare charities - we have 10 sanctuaries around the UK and Europe, and we reach approximately 1.8 million donkeys and mules in almost 40 countries worldwide.
As we embark on an ambitious, new five-year strategy, now is an incredibly exciting time to be joining our Board. We are looking for a –
- Chair of the Board of Trustees
- Trustee with Finance skills
- Trustee with Estate Management skills
Whilst the Chair will bring a broad range of skills to the table, the 2 additional trustees need to offer a significant track record at a senior level within their field, one with finance experience (with recent and relevant financial, accounting or auditing experience, commercial finance or banking) and the other with estates management experience (property portfolio management, international, multi-site).
Our aim is to help many more of the tens of millions of donkeys and mules worldwide through field projects, research and advocacy work promoting lasting collaborations with communities, partner NGOs, governments, the media and public. We need strategic thinkers with strong communication and we need people of integrity with a strong commitment to our aims and a collaborative approach.
In return you will be joining a Board with a genuine desire to make a difference.
